I have been doing my backstage portrait series for awhile. I learn a lot every time I do it. This time I learned that the weather outside really does effect how people look and how my lens works when it is very humid. I had to scrap a lot of the portrait honestly because I just didn’t like how they turned out. So if you are a band viewing this blog and wondering where your image is… I probably didn’t use it. I always feel bad because when i am shooting a personal project people email me and request the images I took- but I don’t end up using them all. I am shooting to learn and for what I personally love, and I make mistakes and choose to not publish some images. So I am sorry to the subjects that I messed up on this time, I will get you next time. I owe you.
The only band I really made away with one very good portrait of each member was Citizen – view backstage portraits with Citizen
My location for the backstage portraits this time around was Pierce The Veil’s trailer- thank you for letting me use it! Light was A Profoto B1 shot through an octabox with the background being a reflector. My camera was a Canon 5d Mark III with a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 and an ND filter to help me keep my aperture pretty wide open in daylight.
