Warped Tour has played a huge role in my life–a bigger role than you may realize. I started as a fan and worked my way to being on tour as a photographer, but it took a lot of practice and hard lessons learned to get there. When I first started there wasn’t anyone to show me the way, so this summer I’m excited to switch things up and teach 27 photography workshops hosted by The Entertainment Institute.
The theme is based on my YouTube channel, Anyone Can Be A Photographer, but my goal is to teach you how to find what you love and chase your dreams–with an emphasis on music photography and sharing my story. See below for more info.
This will be my 8th summer on Warped Tour, but it’s my first time teaching a workshop series and having my own merch tent. Let me know what you want to learn about in the comments, and come prepared with questions!
If I’m not coming to your date, I will still have a merch tent at every stop with brand new items and no shortage of cats or aliens. Just look for my face and go see what we’ve been working on for the past few months. I’ll give you a hint…
Now let’s begin our journey through time, to a place called Summer On Warped Tour’s Past…
My first time shooting Warped on assignment was for Alternative Press in 2007. Check out the photos from that gallery.
A few years later I was hired by AP to shoot their special edition Warped Tour covers:
From here, choose your own adventure:
Me and anyone with a Warped Tour ticket who wants to come. (You?)
A workshop that focuses on getting into music photography and doing what you love.
We will cover:
- Growing your career organically
- How to start working with bands
- How to start working for publications
- Email étiquette
- Acquiring a photo pass
- Shooting what you love and not making excuses
- Working for yourself
- Getting on tour with a band
Workshops will be held in closed-off areas at 27 Warped Tour dates this year. See if I’m coming to your city.
Each session will be 45 minutes long and no it will not conflict with Pierce The Veil.
To learn and have fun! Hang out and get some first-hand information that you can’t get from anyone else.
You can sign up on the ThinkTEI website. It’s pretty easy.
Tickets are $25. The information entering your ears is priceless.
But what if Pierce The Veil is playing at the same time?
They aren’t. I promise.
But what if __band name__ is playing at the same time?
Never fear- you can also snag a ticket day of show via EventBrite from my merch tent, or you can buy tickets from Think TEI using cash or card.
